    2012 St. Louis Invitational

This 10-game course is designed for Beginners and Intermediate level players alike. Its goal is to help chess players to better understand the intricacies of every stage of the game by following the 10 most instructional games from this tournament. We feel that by following actual tournament games and actively participating in dissecting its most important points, gives a player a unique insight into chess and a chance to gain new chess skills.

This event provided a unique mix of players with their different chess philosophies and styles. The everlasting battle of “Experience vs. Youth” was another aspect of this tournament which is always exciting to follow and learn from.

It was not easy to choose only 10 out of so many good and rich games but at the end we went with a mix of games that highlighted every aspect of chess: from opening choices, tactical shots to endgame details. All the games presented here emphasize the tactical aspects (in each game someone’s King was in danger) of chess but in some cases were mixed with more positional or theoretical aspects such as opening systems and pawn structures.

All 10 games will also offer questions to test your tactical abilities to spot creative attacks and test your skills with sacrifices and quiet moves.

We do hope you enjoy the course and apply the new skills in your own games.

    Good luck!
