    Beijing 2013 Vol 1

The 2013 FIDE Grand Prix tournament in Beijing, China, took place between July 4th and July 16th, boasting 12 top class 2700+ competitors each playing 11 games in this round robin.  The 11 rounds were too much to put into 1 volume, so this first volume covers all the decisive games of the first four rounds, where the young Russian GM Sergey Karjakin raced out into the front of the pack with a perfect 3/3.

Hi, I’m Sameer Manchanda. I’ve been playing chess since I was 6 and now I’m a 17-year-old USCF Expert from Carmel, Indiana. My experience has taught me the path to steady improvement is mainly studying top-level openings and games and soaking in their lessons, be they tactical, positional, or psychological. My recent tournament successes have been winning the 2013 Indiana High School State Championship, the 2013 Indiana Memorial State Championship, and the 2013 Chicago Open Under 2100 Section.  I’ve also been coaching for a few years and one of my students is Indiana state champion for his age group.  My goal with Chess U is to pass on all I’ve learned in chess to the next generation of chess players (don’t worry, “late starters” count as the next generation too!), from classics games and strategic maneuvering to modern chess and tactical melees in the most interactive learning chess app I’ve seen!  I try my hardest to make my courses fun, educational, and a tad bit inspirational, and I hope they benefit you.

                Happy (King)Hunting!
