Play the Schliemann 201
The Ruy Lopez Schliemann Defense, also known as the Jaenisch in Europe, is 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 f5!? - a fighting, unbalanced choice. This course will show that the opening is playable and a good surprise weapon with plenty of dynamic chances.
Many lines sacrifice a pawn for excellent piece activity in both middlegames and endgames. These lessons show all white divergences leading up to our recommended main line which is 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 f5!? 4. Nc3 fxe4 5. Nxe4 Nf6!? - a favorite of GM Bruno Parma and played with success by GM Teimour Radiabov in more recent times. We discuss the Parma system in depth in the final four lessons of the course.
